Rethinking parenting support for children with ADHD – why twigged matters

twigged

Gee Eltringham, a psychotherapist, ADHD parent and founder of twigged, explains how it works and who can benefit from it

Parenting a child with ADHD can feel overwhelming. The constant juggle between emotional outbursts, social challenges and navigating school expectations often leaves families stretched thin and searching for answers.

twigged helps parents of children with ADHD move from surviving to thriving, through tools that are practical, evidence-based and judgement-free.

What is twigged, and why did you create it?

twigged began as a response to a gap I saw every day in clinic. As a psychotherapist, ADHD parent, and founder of twigged, in my practice I work with families across the UK who are trying their best to support children with ADHD, but feel stuck.

Many are on long waiting lists, some are post-diagnosis with little follow-up, others are just beginning to wonder whether their current situation and life for their child with ADHD is how it has to be.

Wherever they are, one thing is always the same: the system doesn’t give them enough support.

I created twigged to offer the support I couldn’t provide face-to-face, especially to those I couldn’t reach in clinic. The twigged toolkit for ADHD is more than a digital resource – it’s a place for parents to develop deep understanding, to feel understood and equipped on their parenting journey.

Why are families looking for a different kind of ADHD support?

Put simply, the system isn’t  supporting you  nd traditional parenting doesn’t work when it comes to ADHD.

  • About 1 in 20 UK children show ADHD-related traits, yet only 1.6% have a formal diagnosis.
  • Many families are left navigating complex behaviours without guidance or validation.
  • The emotional toll is huge—parents of children with ADHD are twice as likely to separate by the time their child turns 8.

Too often, support feels clinical, inconsistent or focused on what’s ‘wrong’ rather than what’s possible. Families don’t want labels – they want to understand their child, build connection and find some calm.

How is the twigged toolkit for ADHD different?

This isn’t another parenting book. It’s not about rigid programmes or perfection. It’s a flexible, research-backed resource designed for real life.

Parents get:

  • Clear, everyday tools to support emotional regulation, routines and relationships.
  • Warm, accessible language, no jargon, no judgement.
  • Strategies grounded in evidence and experience.
  • A self-paced structure that allows families to plan, predict and support not just react.

It’s easy to dip into when needed and powerful enough to change how you parent day-to-day.

Who is twigged for?

Any caregiver raising or wondering if they’re raising a child with ADHD. You don’t need a diagnosis to use twigged. You just need a desire to better understand your child and feel more confident in how you show up for them.
