More than 350 people lit up the night at Odd Down Sports Ground in Bath for a charity fun run which raised over £18,000 to support patients at the Royal United Hospitals Bath (RUH).

The sold-out Glow Run, held on Friday 16 October, brought together families, friends, colleagues, NHS staff and university students for an evening of fitness, fun and fundraising. Organised by RUHX, the official charity of the RUH Bath, participants tackled either a 2km or 5km route, with runners of all ages joining in to support their local hospital.

The event began beneath a spectacular autumn sunset and finished under a star-filled sky, with runners dressed in colourful neon outfits following an illuminated route around the sports ground. An energetic mass warm-up led by personal trainers from PureGym Bath got everyone moving before the event began, while colourful LED wristbands provided by local company LuxLync added to the glowing spectacle.

With the youngest participant just four months old and the oldest in their seventies, the event attracted supporters from across the generations. The Glow Run was sponsored by Freestyle Designs, a longstanding supporter of RUHX which has backed the event since it was launched in 2024.

Ellie Wilkinson-Brown, Events & Community Manager at RUHX, said, “This year’s Glow Run was our best and biggest yet! Seeing hundreds of local people come together for a shared cause of supporting the RUH Bath was incredibly special.

“We are so grateful to all of our extraordinary Glow Runners, volunteers, sponsor Freestyle Designs, and spectators for playing their part in ensuring every patient receives extra extraordinary care.”

The £18,000 raised will help RUHX support patients across Bath and the surrounding area, funding additional care and improvements at the hospital.

A date for the 2027 Glow Run will be announced soon at ruhx.org.uk
