Bath community groups offered £1,000 grants to help families get online

Community groups and charities in Bath can apply for grants of up to £1,000 to help local people build digital skills. Apply by 3 November.

Community groups and charities in Bath that help families and local residents access online services are being invited to apply for grants of up to £1,000 through a new Digital Inclusion Fund.

The funding could help organisations support parents struggling with school communications, families accessing online healthcare and education services, and older residents who need assistance using digital technology.

Launched by the SNG Community Foundation, the fund will provide grants of between £300 and £1,000 to grassroots organisations helping people develop the skills and confidence they need to make the most of digital technology.

The initiative aims to tackle digital exclusion, which can make it difficult for people to access essential everyday services, education, employment opportunities and healthcare.

Funding is available for projects offering digital skills workshops, one-to-one support sessions, community drop-ins and training for volunteers who help others get online.

SNG (Sovereign Network Group), one of England’s largest housing associations, has launched the initiative as part of its wider investment in supporting communities and improving wellbeing.

Andrew Cooper, Head of Funding and Social Value at the SNG Community Foundation, said, “Being online is no longer a luxury. It’s often the gateway to employment, education, healthcare and everyday services. Yet many people still lack the confidence, skills or support needed to make the most of digital technology.

“We know that local community organisations are often best placed to provide practical, trusted support. Through this fund, we’re helping those organisations reach more people and ensure that no one is left behind as more aspects of life move online.”

Applications are open to registered charities, community groups, community interest companies and social enterprises. Organisations must demonstrate how their projects will directly benefit SNG customers and their communities.

The fund opened on 6 October, with applications closing on 3 November 2026. Applications should be submitted through SNG’s funding partner, ActionFunder.
