Cookery workshops, open kitchen events, children’s activities and a seasonal lunch club will all be on the menu when Bath Community Kitchen launches its autumn pop-up at Shires Yard in Milsom Street.
Opening on Saturday 3 October, the pop-up kitchen will invite people from across Bath to get hands-on with fresh food, learn new skills and find out more about Bath Community Kitchen’s work bringing people together through good food.
The programme begins with an open kitchen day on Saturday 3 October, followed by a range of events throughout the autumn. During October half term there will be workshops for children, while adults can take part in the new Good Food for Less cookery course, designed to help people prepare tasty and nutritious food on a budget.

Every Thursday, the kitchen will also host a lunch club offering a pay-what-you-feel ‘meal deal’, with seasonal salads and soups available to take away. Money raised will help support Bath Community Kitchen’s wider community projects.
Bath Community Kitchen’s cooks and volunteers will be joined during the pop-up by guest chefs and food writers including Helen Lawrence from Bath’s Demuths Cookery School and Gemma Ogston, author of The Self-Care Cookbook and The Healing Cookbook.
Other events planned include cosy curry club workshops and weekend brunch sessions.
Groups of friends and colleagues will also be able to book bespoke workshops and seasonal suppers, offering an opportunity to celebrate together while supporting Bath Community Kitchen’s community work.
“We’re really excited to bring Bath Community Kitchen into the heart of the city and get more people involved in what we do,” said, founder Rob Lewis. “We host weekly community meals in Twerton and Radstock, running hands-on cookery courses in and around Bath for disadvantaged, vulnerable and diverse people, as well as getting involved in city events like the Forest of Imagination and Bath Film Festival.
“Thanks to the Shires Yard team we have the chance to open the kitchen doors, tell more people about what we do and inspire our community to enjoy good food together.”
As well as welcoming visitors, Bath Community Kitchen will use the Shires Yard venue as a base for its event catering, preparing canapés, buffet lunches and seasonal suppers for events across Bath.
Ed Boylan, commercial manager at Shires Yard, said, “We are thrilled to be welcoming Bath Community Kitchen to Shires Yard. As Shires Yard continues to evolve, we want it to be a place that feels genuinely connected to Bath and the people who live here, so having Bath Community Kitchen become part of that journey feels like a very natural fit.
“We’re incredibly excited to see them bring the space to life and to welcome the wider community through our doors.”
