Young people aged 5 to 18 are being invited to explore theatre-making, performance and creativity this summer with a programme of Summer Schools at Bath’s Egg Theatre.
The Egg Theatre School’s summer programme includes week-long introductions to theatre-making for younger children, as well as an ambitious three-week production project for older participants.
Places are limited and early booking is recommended.

Play in a Week is aimed at children aged 5 to 12 and offers an introduction to theatre-making through storytelling, movement and performance. Led by experienced theatre-makers and directors, children will work together to create an original short play, before performing it on The Egg stage for friends and family.
Sessions include ages 5 to 7 from 27-31 July, 9.30am-1pm, priced at £180; ages 8 to 10 from 27-31 July, 1.30-4.30pm, priced at £180; and ages 10 to 12 from 3-7 August, 10am-4pm, priced at £250.
For young people aged 12 to 18, Summer Company 2026 returns with a three-week Summer School, offering the chance to create a new production from the ground up.
Participants will work with industry professionals while exploring acting, stage management, design and technical theatre as they bring a fast-paced, ensemble-led comedy adventure to life. The new play, by award-winning writer Florence Espeut-Nickless, celebrates individuality as a superpower and young people who do not usually see themselves as heroes.
The project runs from 10-29 August, 10am-5pm daily, with public performances on 28 and 29 August at 2pm and 6pm. The cost is £600 and full commitment across the three-week rehearsal period is essential.
Anna-Louise Fleet, Participation Programme Producer, said, “Summer Company is one of my favourite projects. For three extraordinary weeks, The Egg becomes a space dedicated entirely to the young voices within it.
“What makes this project so special is the way industry professionals collaborate with the young people involved to create a high-quality piece of theatre, shaped around their ideas, talents and experiences. We welcome anyone, familiar or new, to embark on a journey with us that you will treasure for a lifetime.”
The Egg is committed to making its programmes accessible to all, with bursary places available across all summer courses through The Wonderfund, helping to ensure that financial circumstances are not a barrier to participation.
A previous participant said, “Everyone was so talented and confident and that helped me become confident myself.”
Summer Company 2026 is made possible with the support of The Garek Trust.
