The Learning Tree Preschool in Peasedown St John has been praised by OFSTED inspectors for its welcoming environment, ambitious curriculum and commitment to helping every child thrive.
Inspectors visited the Church Road preschool in April and awarded it a strong judgement across every area, recognising the quality of education, care and support provided to children and families.
In their report, OFSTED said: ‘Children flourish at this thoroughly welcoming and inclusive pre-school. Staff consistently deliver a broad and ambitious curriculum with skill, dedication, and care. They create a calm, encouraging, and motivating environment where all children, including those with special educational needs and/or disabilities and barriers to learning, feel confident to be themselves and achieve well.’
The preschool, which opened in spring 2024, is part of the wider Learning Day Tree network of early years settings in Peasedown St John, Chilcompton and Winsley.
Jessica Baxter, owner and director of The Learning Day Tree, said, “We’re delighted with the news from OFSTED. Our staff go above and beyond at the pre-school to provide a safe, welcoming and nurturing environment for every child.
“Since we opened the preschool in Church Road, the setting has gone from strength to strength, with families travelling from afar to be a part of what we do. We pride ourselves on providing the very best preschool opportunities for children living in our community. It’s fantastic to have that now recognised by OFSTED.”
The report also highlighted the strong relationships children develop with staff and the way they are encouraged to learn through meaningful play.
Preschool manager Amy Purchase said, “The announcement from OFSTED is fantastic. We’re particularly pleased that the report highlights how well children settle with us and form strong bonds with their key person. They benefit from the caring and responsive approach that we seek to foster here at the preschool.
“For us, children immersing themselves in meaningful play is essential to our approach and we’re delighted that this was identified in the report. I’m incredibly proud of our staff team who helped us achieve such remarkable results from OFSTED.”
Inspectors also recognised the preschool’s close links with the local community. The setting is based in the Church Hall next to St John’s Church and plays an active role in village life.
For local families looking ahead to their child’s early years education, the report provides further reassurance about the quality of care and learning on offer at the popular village preschool.
