Bath women invited to unite for Dorothy House Women’s Walk this July

Dorothy House’s Women’s Walk returns to Bath on 4 July, raising funds and awareness for women facing loneliness and hardship at end of life.

Women across Bath are being encouraged to come together for the Dorothy House Women’s Walk on 4 July 2026, raising awareness of the lack of support many women face at the end of life while helping fund vital hospice care.

Starting from Henrietta Park, participants can choose between a 5km accessible route or a 12km walk through Bath city centre, joining fellow carers, friends and families for an evening focused on compassion, remembrance and solidarity.

Dorothy House’s Women’s Walk returns to Bath on 4 July, raising funds and awareness for women facing loneliness and hardship at end of life.

The event aims to shine a light on the challenges many women experience at the end of life, including poverty, loneliness and the pressures of caring responsibilities. Dorothy House says women continue to take on the majority of unpaid caring roles, while many also face financial hardship in later life.

Funds raised from the walk will help Dorothy House continue providing specialist end of life care and support for patients and families across the region. The hospice charity currently receives just 20% of its funding from the government and is campaigning for long-term sustainable funding for hospice care.

Support from walkers could help fund services including expert counselling sessions, Hospice at Home care and specialist support on the Inpatient Unit.

As part of the event, participants will be invited to carry a memory stone in honour of a loved one. At the end of the walk, the stones will be placed together in a shared display as a symbol that no one faces grief or care alone.

Entertainment and inspirational speakers are also planned throughout the evening, including Sophie Broadfield, chief executive of Bath & North East Somerset Council, and Sarah Armit, senior sister at Dorothy House.

Early bird tickets cost £20, with standard entry priced at £25. Free hot food and drink will be available for participants.

The walk starts and finishes at Henrietta Park in Bath on Saturday 4 July.
