A summer of creativity, confidence and new friendships awaits young people in Bath, as The Egg Theatre unveils its exciting programme of summer schools for 2026.
Designed for ages 5 to 18, the much-loved theatre’s holiday activities offer everything from fun, week-long introductions to theatre-making to an ambitious three-week production project. Whether your child is taking their first steps on stage or already loves performing, there is something here to inspire them.

One past participant summed up the experience perfectly, saying, “Everyone was so talented and confident and that helped me become confident myself.”
Play in a Week: create, perform, shine
For younger children aged 5 to 12, the ‘Play in a Week’ sessions provide a brilliant introduction to theatre. Across five days, children explore storytelling, movement and performance, working together to create an original short play.
The week builds towards a special performance on The Egg stage, giving children the chance to showcase their creativity in front of family and friends.
Sessions are led by experienced theatre-makers and directors, with a strong focus on teamwork, imagination and building confidence in a supportive environment.
Dates and prices:
- Ages 5–7: 27–31 July, 9.30am–1pm – £180
- Ages 8–10: 27–31 July, 1.30pm–4.30pm – £180

Summer Company 2026: a full-scale production experience
For older children and teens aged 12 to 18, the Summer Company offers something truly special.
This three-week intensive programme gives participants the opportunity to create a brand-new production from the ground up. Working alongside industry professionals, young people will explore acting, stage management, design and technical theatre.
The 2026 production is a fast-paced, ensemble-led comedy adventure by award-winning writer Florence Espeut-Nickless. It celebrates individuality and champions young people who do not always see themselves as the hero.
Participation Programme Producer Anna-Louise Fleet said, “Summer Company is one of my favourite projects. For three extraordinary weeks, The Egg becomes a space dedicated entirely to the young voices within it.”
She added, “What makes this project so special is the way industry professionals collaborate with the young people involved to create a high-quality piece of theatre, shaped around their ideas, talents and experiences. We welcome anyone, familiar or new, to embark on a journey with us that you will treasure for a lifetime.”
The project culminates in public performances, giving participants a real taste of life in theatre.
