Families across Bath and Wiltshire are being invited to get on their bikes this spring as a brand-new community cycling event comes to Trowbridge, with a special focus on an accessible 5-mile family-friendly route designed for younger and less experienced riders.

Taking place on Sunday 31 May 2026, the inaugural Tour de Trowbridge is expected to attract more than 400 cyclists and has been created to bring together riders of all ages and abilities, from confident road cyclists to families enjoying a relaxed first event together.

Organised by Trowbridge Chamber CIC in partnership with Trowbridge Town Council and Iconic Cycling Events, the event will start and finish at Trowbridge Park, creating a lively hub for riders and spectators alike.

A route designed with families in mind

At the heart of the event is the new 5-mile route, created especially for families, younger cyclists and those new to organised rides. The shorter distance offers a safe, supportive introduction to mass participation cycling, allowing parents and children to ride together while enjoying the atmosphere of a professionally managed event.

The family route sits alongside three longer options, meaning households with mixed abilities can all take part on the same day:

  • 5 miles – ideal for families, younger riders and beginners

  • 25 miles (Community Loop) – suitable for most cycling abilities

  • 46 miles (Wiltshire Ridge Ride) – a scenic intermediate challenge

  • 79 miles (Grand Tour) – a demanding ride for experienced cyclists

All routes will follow a staggered start schedule, designed to create a shared finish time and a vibrant, celebratory atmosphere as riders return to Trowbridge Park.

Community, wellbeing and a great cause

The Tour de Trowbridge has been developed as a feel-good community event, promoting health, wellbeing and positivity, while also raising money for local charities. Profits from the day will be donated to Wiltshire and Bath Air Ambulance Charity, St John Ambulance Wiltshire and the Trowbridge Mayor’s Charity Appeal.

Supporting a growing town

Delivered by Iconic Cycling Events, which has successfully run similar rides in towns and cities across the UK, the Tour de Trowbridge will be fully marshalled with professional route planning and rider safety management in place.

The event has been welcomed by Trowbridge Town Council as part of its wider work around regeneration, public wellbeing and place-making, helping to position the town as a destination for inclusive, community-led events.
