Valentine’s escape game launches at House of Frankenstein in Bath

A new Valentine’s escape game, The Monster’s Bride (In a Box!), launches at Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein in Bath on 14 February 2026.

Families, couples and thrill-seekers are invited to try something a little different this Valentine’s Day as Mary Shelley’s House of Frankenstein unveils a brand-new escape game inspired by one of literature’s most famous love stories.

Launching on 14 February, The Monster’s Bride (In a Box!) challenges players to help history’s most misunderstood Monster finally find his Bride.

Inspired by Frankenstein by Mary Shelley, the game revisits the moment when Victor Frankenstein’s creation made his chilling request for a companion. To prove himself worthy, the Monster was set a series of complex tests – a challenge that has now been rediscovered for modern-day players.

Working together, teams must solve fiendish puzzles, unlock secrets and keep their nerve under pressure. Communication, cooperation and cool heads are essential, because even monstrous love is a team effort.

Designed to appeal to both seasoned escape-room fans and complete beginners, The Monster’s Bride (In a Box!) offers a fully immersive experience in a compact, flexible format. With rich storytelling and hands-on challenges, it’s ideal for couples, friends and family groups looking for something memorable to do together.

Chris Harris from The House of Frankenstein said, “We wanted to create something that feels genuinely immersive and challenging, but also social, playful and fun. What better time than Valentine’s Day to test communication, teamwork and trust?”

Bath is officially recognised as the birthplace of Frankenstein, written by Mary Shelley while she was living in the city in 1816. Housed across four atmospheric floors of a 300-year-old town house, the attraction brings Shelley’s life and legacy vividly to life through its museum and escape experiences.
