The Young Voices programme hosts the world’s largest children’s choir concerts, offering primary pupils the chance to sing as part of a massed choir in a professional arena. It aims to help children find their voice, build confidence and develop a lifelong love of singing.

St Mary’s pupils spent the day rehearsing with dozens of schools in preparation for a high-energy evening performance supported by a live band and professional musicians. For many children it was their first experience performing in such a spectacular setting.

The trip reflects St Mary’s strong commitment to music, with pupils encouraged to explore a wide range of musical styles and develop their skills through regular singing. Music is an important part of school life, supporting confidence, creativity and enjoyment.

St Mary’s is also a recognised Music Mark School, celebrating its contribution to music education in Wiltshire.

Lucy Buckland, Headteacher at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, said, “The children had a wonderful day in Birmingham, creating memories that will truly last a lifetime. Singing alongside thousands of other children in such an exciting setting helped build confidence, teamwork and a real sense of achievement. We are incredibly proud of them.”

Helen Taylor, CEO of the Dunstan Catholic Educational Trust, said, “What an unforgettable experience for St Mary’s pupils. Opportunities like this open children’s eyes to what is possible and help make music something they can enjoy and carry with them for life.”
