Stonar’s prep school pupils have welcomed a very unusual new classmate this week: Flowerpot, a colourful, multilingual AI companion created to spark creativity, curiosity and environmental action in young learners.
Stonar is one of only four UK schools – and more than 40 across nine countries – taking part in the pioneering Globeducate initiative. Schools in France, Spain, Cyprus, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, the Netherlands and Andorra have also joined what is being described as a world-first in educational innovation.
Flowerpot is no ordinary visitor. Able to communicate in seven languages, adapt to different age groups and display simulated emotions through its LED face, it has been designed to make AI friendly, accessible and inspiring for pupils.
A Stonar spokesperson said, “Flowerpot gives pupils the chance to explore technology in a thoughtful, creative and environmentally conscious way. It’s a wonderful opportunity for them to collaborate with schools across the world.”
Over the coming weeks Flowerpot will guide pupils through a series of missions blending technology, creativity and climate awareness.
Prep school activities launched this week include:
• A competition to name the Flowerpot.
• A design challenge to create a home or habitat using recycled or natural materials.
• An eco-essay project encouraging pupils to reflect on the small changes that can help protect the planet.
The initiative will soon expand to include senior school pupils, giving the whole Stonar community the chance to explore how AI can support learning while inspiring global citizenship.
