Wiltshire College & University Centre has been praised for its rapid progress in sustainability after being shortlisted for Sustainability Institution of the Year at the 2025 Green Gown Awards.

Although the College did not win the top title, judges delivered highly positive feedback. They highlighted the scale of progress made in just three years, strong regional leadership and innovative projects including the Micro Anaerobic Digester and the Green Skills Innovation Centre. They also commended apprentices for bringing sustainable practice into local industries.

The awards, delivered by the Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges in association with UK Research and Innovation, brought together 112 finalists from 76 institutions at a ceremony held at the Library of Birmingham on Thursday 6 November.

Deputy Principal, Steve Campion, attended the event with Principal and CEO, Iain Hatt, and Director of Business Development, Martin Reeves. Steve said, “Being recognised at this level is a huge achievement. The judges’ comments show just how far we’ve come, and I’m incredibly proud of our staff, students and partners.”

The College’s sustainability work includes more than 800 solar panels, the Lackham Eco House with Good Energy, expanded green skills training and investment in energy-efficient facilities, EV charging and biodiversity projects.

Wiltshire College & University Centre continues to work towards its goals to halve emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2040.
