Bath College student Louis Sweeten has been promoted to the Bath City FC first team — an impressive achievement that marks a major step forward in his footballing journey.
Louis, who studies Football at Bath College, has earned widespread praise from coaches and peers for his dedication, teamwork and discipline both on and off the pitch. His progression from college football to the semi-professional level highlights the strength of the College’s sports programme and the support provided by its staff and mentors.

“My time at Bath College really helped me develop both as a player and a person,” said Louis. “The environment makes it a really nice place to be, and the staff are all supportive with college work and the sports side of it.
“The balance between working hard in the classroom and working hard on the pitch has definitely helped me to stay disciplined and focused.”
Louis credited his tutor James for his guidance throughout his studies. “James has been very supportive both on and off the pitch, which has definitely helped me a lot. Winning games in the FA Youth Cup and playing for the first team were standout moments for me. Being in college with all the boys has helped us improve together.”
The Football programme at Bath College enables students to pursue their sporting ambitions while gaining valuable qualifications. Louis said the structure of the course taught him vital life skills.
“It gives you plenty of time to enjoy football and also work hard in college,” he said. “It teaches you discipline and how to keep on top of things, which is very important in day-to-day life.”
Paul Williams, Football Chairman at Bath City FC, praised Louis’ dedication and development. “Since first joining the Football programme at Bath College and being involved in Bath City’s first team squad since July 2024, Louis has shown commitment, dedication and worked hard to achieve his contract. We are all pleased with his progress to date and look forward to seeing him continue to develop in his career.”
Reflecting on his next steps, Louis said, “It means a lot for me to be part of Bath City FC. I’ve worked very hard to get here, but it’s only the start. I want to keep improving, contribute as much as I can on the pitch, and continue working hard in college to get the best grades possible.”
Offering advice to other students with similar ambitions, he added, “Make sure you’re always enjoying everything you do. Be patient and make the most of every opportunity. Take the education part seriously — it’s important to have a backup.”
Bath College congratulated Louis on his achievement and said it looked forward to following his journey with Bath City FC.
