Norland is delighted to be hosting a Sustainable Fashion Week 2025 Hub, joining a nationwide network of community-led events championing sustainability in the fashion industry.
Taking place on Saturday September 27 from 10am-12pm, the Bath Norland hub will feature two workshops for children designed to inspire sustainable thinking and creativity.

Led by Norland’s sewing lecturers Kate Jaeger and Jo Price, the events will focus on the Sustainable Fashion Week theme for 2025 – the ‘power of repair’ – encouraging participants to mend, reuse and reimagine their garments in ways that reduce waste and celebrate creativity.
Norland will host two workshops: ‘Repair Together’ and ‘Reclaim and Reinvent’. In ‘Repair Together’, participants aged 10-17 will learn creative hand darning techniques using colourful yarn.
In ‘Reclaim and Reinvent’, participants aged 7-12 will transform their own old shirt or t shirt into a cuddly fabric friend using simple stitching and decorative techniques.

“We’re thrilled to be part of the Sustainable Fashion Week programme again,” said Kate Jaeger and Jo Price, Norland Sewing Lecturers. “Our sessions aim to offer opportunities for young people to learn and explore stitching in a relaxed and supportive environment, and to have fun building skills and honing a love for making.”
Norland’s involvement reflects its broader commitment to sustainability, which is embedded throughout its degree and diploma training. From eco-conscious modules in its BA (Hons) Early Childhood Education and Care degree to initiatives like Earth Day celebrations and food waste reduction, Norland continues to integrate sustainability into the education, and everyday practice, of its students.
Proceeds from the sessions will go to campaign group Labour Behind the Label, who focus on labour rights in the garment industry.
