The countdown is on – in less than ten weeks Bath will once again sparkle as the famous Bath Christmas Market returns for its 25th anniversary, welcoming families from across the region and beyond to enjoy one of the UK’s most loved festive celebrations.
From November 27 to December 14, the historic streets of Bath will be transformed into a winter wonderland, with over 250 stalls and chalets offering artisan gifts, festive food and drink, and handmade treasures. Around 65% of the businesses taking part are based in Bath and the surrounding areas, ensuring that local families and traders are at the heart of the celebrations.
New for families this year
This year’s market will feature a brand-new reindeer trail around the city centre, encouraging children and parents alike to discover hidden corners of Bath while following the festive clues. Families can also enjoy special quieter hours from 10am to 12pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, when entertainment is paused, creating a calmer shopping experience for those with sensory needs or who simply prefer a gentler atmosphere.
A festive start for residents
Bath residents can enjoy a special preview evening on Tuesday, November 26, from 5pm to 7pm, with exclusive offers for those holding a Discovery Card. Discovery Card holders will also receive weekday discounts throughout the market, as well as free access to local heritage sites and year-round offers across Bath & North East Somerset.
Food, fun and festive cheer
Families can look forward to tasting seasonal treats from local producers, warming up with hot chocolate or mulled drinks, and exploring the stalls for perfect Christmas gifts. There will also be six Christmas Carts showcasing Bath and Bristol micro-businesses, giving families the chance to support small, independent traders.
Accessible and sustainable
The market continues to put sustainability at its heart, with all stallholders required to use biodegradable packaging and reuse decorations where possible. A quiet and warm space will also be available at Bath Central Library, offering families a place to rest and recharge.
Supporting the local community
Last year, the Bath Christmas Market attracted 444,000 visitors, generating £60.4m for businesses and supporting more than 500 jobs. Councillor Manda Rigby, Cabinet Member for Communications and Community, said:
“The 25th anniversary of Bath Christmas Market is a proud moment for the city. Whether you’re shopping for gifts, sampling local food or simply soaking up the seasonal ambience, we look forward to welcoming you. For families, it’s the perfect way to make memories and enjoy the magic of Christmas together.”
Plan your visit
Daily Park & Ride services will run at increased frequency during the market, with staff on hand at all sites and central stops to assist with queuing and ticket sales. Full details will be available nearer the time.
