Bring the whole family – two-legged and four-legged – to the Wag Walk this September!

Bath Cats and Dogs Home

Bath Cats and Dogs Home invites local families and their furry companions to join the much-loved Wag Walk on Sunday 28 September, one of Bath’s biggest dog-friendly days out. It’s not just a walk – it’s a celebration of pets, people and the joy of spending time together outdoors, all while helping rescue animals in need.

Last year over 100 dogs and their families took part, and this year the charity hopes to welcome even more walkers – aiming to raise £8,000 to support the hundreds of cats and dogs they care for every year.

Bath Cats and Dogs Home rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes over 700 animals annually, many of whom arrive unwanted, neglected, or abandoned. Every step taken during the Wag Walk helps give them a brighter future.

The event starts at the Rescue Centre in Claverton, Bath, where families can choose between:

  • A two-mile flat stroll perfect for little legs and pushchairs.

  • A five-mile countryside adventure along the National Trust Bath Skyline, ideal for those who want more of a challenge.

All dogs taking part will proudly wear a Wag Walk bandana, and at the finish line families can enjoy a relaxed afternoon back at the Centre with refreshments, activities, dog-friendly goodie bags and plenty of wagging tails.

Katy Goodship, Fundraiser at Bath Cats and Dogs Home, said, “The Wag Walk is a brilliant family day out – whether you’re walking with your dog, your children, or your friends. Together we can make a huge difference to the lives of rescue pets. And if you’re thinking of adding a new furry member to your family, we’d love you to consider adoption.”

Volunteer Andrea Parkes, from Bath, added, “Wag Walk is such a joyful event – fun for all ages, with routes for every ability. It’s always wonderful to see adopted dogs return with their families, showing just how far they’ve come. It’s a special day that really brings the community together.”
