This Father’s Day, ditch the socks and give Dad something he’ll actually want: a ski challenge. South Wilts Ski Club has just launched a high-adrenaline gift idea – pitting families against each other in a virtual slalom duel using the brand-new SkyTech Ski Simulator.
The club (just 10 miles from Warminster and close to the A354 and A36) is already known for hosting Wiltshire’s only Infinity Ski Slope. It is now the only location in the UK to offer both SkyTech and Infinity ski simulators under one roof.
“Our Infinity Slope has been so popular, we wanted to expand our offering,” says Club founder Nick Jenkins. “The SkyTech simulator brings a gamified edge to ski training that’s seriously fun but also really effective.”
The SkyTech Ski Simulator lets users clip into fixed bindings on rails in front of a virtual screen, then ski through customisable slalom courses or scenic snow trails. You can change the snow type and grip – perfect for sharpening technique and chasing new personal bests. There’s even a national leaderboard, with SWSC’s own instructor Craig Philpott at the top of the UK rankings.
“It’s brilliant for all abilities, whether Dad’s an ex-racer or just competitive on the slopes,” said Craig. “Watching yourself carve through gates is a buzz – and trying to beat your kid’s time adds to the fun.”
If Dad’s more into form than fierce competition, the club’s Infinity Slope is an excellent alternative. Think of it as a revolving, carpeted slope that mimics a real ski run. The speed and incline are adjustable, and each session includes one-on-one coaching plus a full-length mirror to fine-tune your technique.
Father’s Day sessions are available now at £75 for 30 minutes and includes access to the club’s complimentary, cosy alpine-style clubhouse. Minimum age is 8 and children must have a shoe size of adult size 3+ to use the SkyTech Simulator.
