Young Bath dancers to appear in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Bristol Hippodrome

Dorothy Coleborn

Eight children from Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance are appearing in the musical Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the Bristol Hippodrome until 4 May, 2025.

Annette Hind, principal of the Bath-based dance school, said, “We are so delighted that our students will be showcasing their talents on the Bristol Hippodrome stage next week. We have been working hard in the studio, liaising with the Director and the children are fully prepared for their run of nine shows. We are very proud of each and every student and cannot wait to watch them shine on stage.”

Based on Ian Fleming’s timeless story for children and later made into the famous 1968 film, in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, we meet absent-minded inventor Caractacus Potts who restores a broken-down old racing car with the help of his children Jemima and Jeremy. Soon the family discover the car has magical powers, and along with the delectable Truly Scrumptious, the family end up on a hilarious fantastical adventure to far off lands.

The production features the unforgettable songs by the Sherman Brothers including Toot Sweets, Hushabye Mountain, Truly Scrumptious and the Academy Award-nominated title song, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

The fourth-generation Dorothy Coleborn School of Dance has been providing quality teaching and inspirational performance opportunities to thousands of children for over 100 years.
