Review – Team Bath Netball start the season with an impressive win over Notts Forest

Ian Waller enjoys a season opening victory for the blue and gold at Team Bath Netball

With Team Bath Netball, it appears that while some things chance, others stay the same. On Friday evening they got their 2025 NXT Gen League season off to a winning start with an impressive 62-53 win over Nottingham Forest

In front of a crowd of 600 enthusiastic fans – including a number of school groups – the Team Bath stars started strong and never lost the lead against their impressive but ultimately outclassed opponents. Up front, Captain Lily Jones led by example for the hosts, converting 92% of her shots and defending from the front with two interceptions during an impressive performance which earned her the player of the match award.

Wing-defence Ellie Ervine made three interceptions and the rest of the match-day squad also made important contributions to the result, with all 12 players getting out on court in front of a 600-strong crowd.

What’s really worth also mentioning was the wonderful atmosphere at the match, with the crowd cheering every point – for both teams – encouraged by a wonderful MC who was clearly enjoying the occasion as much as the fans.

These matches really are just great for a Friday family evening out. The University sports village is an impressive location at any time, as well as being so welcoming to visitors. Plus there’s drinks and snacks on sale at half time and – better still – the chance to grab selfies and autographs from the players at the end of the game.

Next up are the Cardiff Dragons at home on 14 February – surely the perfect Valentine’s date night – followed by the mighty London Pulse a week later. In fact, all of their upcoming home games are –

• Nottingham Forest on Friday 7^th February (7pm)
• Cardiff Dragons on Friday 14^th February (7pm)
• London Pulse on Friday 21^st February (7pm)
• Birmingham Panthers on Friday 4^th April (7pm)
