As Spring approaches and the days grow longer, families are invited to join English Heritage at Stonehenge for an unforgettable half-term adventure filled with fresh air, excitement and creativity!
From February 15 to February 23, 2025, Stonehenge will host Making Faces, a fantastic hands-on activity where families can delve into forensic archaeology and discover what visitors to the stones might have looked like 5,000 years ago. This engaging event allows families to participate in facial reconstruction workshops, guided by experts who will share how archaeological evidence and modelling clay can bring ancient history to life.

Imagine gazing into the eyes of a man who roamed the Stonehenge landscape over thousands of years ago. Young visitors will not only explore the science of facial reconstruction but also have the chance to create their own models of what they think the Neolithic people may have looked like.
“Bring the whole family to Stonehenge this half term for an unforgettable adventure!” says Richard Dewdney, English Heritage’s Head of Historic Properties for Stonehenge. “Become a forensic archaeologist for the day as you reconstruct ancient faces and discover replica Neolithic houses, tools, clothes and pots —all before you even set eyes on the magnificent stone circle. It’s a fantastic opportunity for families to enjoy the outdoors together and connect with history.”

All activities are included with admission and free for members of English Heritage and National Trust, as well as Local Resident Pass holders. If you live near Stonehenge, you may qualify for a Local Resident Pass, allowing free entry for you and your family. Check the English Heritage website for details.
