Review – Step Into Christmas at the Forum Bath, a wonderful evening of festive fun

Step Into Christmas

Rob Bridges enjoys a fun-filled festive evening of classic Christmas hits, jokes and audience participation

After seven weeks on the road the Step into Christmas tour landed at The Bath Forum with a festive bang. With the audience of all ages dressed in Christmas attire and clearly in party mode, the scene was set for a wonderful evening of musical entertainment.

Right from the start the energy of the show had the audience up on their feet, clapping and singing along to the first song. The Christmas hits came thick and fast, as well as the costume changes to cover the different decades and songs. From Rockin around the Christmas Tree and Mistletoe and Wine, to White Christmas around the piano, this was Christmas wonderland with an extra covering of tinsel and fun!

One of the highlights from part one saw four of the performers coming on stage in puffer jackets to perform the East 17 hit Stay Another Day – yes, there really was something for everyone!

The second part of the evening continued in the much the same vein, with even a brave rendition of the Darkness Christmas number one Christmas Time. As the evening drew to an end, it was time for the big guns, with the monster hits from Slade, Wizzard, Band Aid, Wham and yes, of course, Mariah Carey.

The performers, Ashley, Ashlea, Harry and Damion, displayed an amazing range of voices which brought real depth to these classic songs, with the show’s visual impact aided by snow machines and lights. Still, the really winning element was the exuberance that the performers gave the songs and their connection with the crowd.

Add in jokes and an eagerly accepted invitation to join in with a few dance moves, by the end of the evening the whole crowd were on their feet singing and dancing with smiles on their faces, plus lots of festive spirit in the air.

If your festive gauge was running on low before attending this event, you left it running on full and ready for the festive days ahead. Big shout out to the front of office teams at the Forum Bath who always provide great service.
