Team Bath netball night out proves a winning family experience

A lively evening at Team Bath Arena shows why top-class netball is a brilliant, affordable family night out in Bath.

A visit to a Team Bath Netball home game is about much more than what happens on court – it is a full evening of atmosphere, energy and excitement that works just as well for families as for serious sports fans.

From the moment the players make their entrance, bursting through a spray of fireworks to loud music and cheering, it is clear this is going to be a lively event. The MC keeps the crowd engaged from the start, encouraging noise and building anticipation before the first whistle even blows.

The stands were busy and buzzing, with plenty of young fans eager to see their Team Bath heroes up close. Every goal was met with cheers and clapping, and there was a real sense of shared excitement as the home side made a strong start.

Netball might look simple at first glance, but watching it live shows just how fast and skilful it is. The speed of the passing, the movement of the players and the accuracy of the shooting made it easy to see why so many children in the crowd were watching closely and copying what they saw.

As the game went on and London Pulse began to edge ahead, the atmosphere never dipped. Children continued cheering loudly for their favourites, while adults debated tactics, including some lively discussion about the newer ‘Super Score’ rule, which allows double-point goals in the final five minutes of each quarter.

The breaks between quarters gave everyone a chance to chat and stretch their legs, while half time brought queues for drinks, sweets and snacks, with the Sports Village café doing steady business.

Still, Team Bath refused to give up, and neither did their fans, whose enthusiasm pushed the home side right through to the final hooter.

Although The Blue & Gold were beaten 57–47 at the Team Bath Arena, there was a clear sense that there was plenty for the Bath side to build on. After the final whistle, young supporters waited patiently for autographs and selfies, before families headed off in good time for an early Friday night.

All in all, this was a hugely enjoyable experience – a chance for the whole family to watch top-class sport together in a safe, welcoming and lively arena.
