Pupils at Kingsbury Green Academy have been spreading festive cheer this term by collecting gifts to support local charities and community initiatives.
Students, their families and members of the wider Calne community worked together to donate presents for some very worthy causes, helping to ensure vulnerable residents feel supported this Christmas.
Earlier this month, Calne Mayor Cllr Ian Thorn and Alison Robinson, Director of Calne Town Council, visited the academy to collect donations for the Mayor’s Christmas Meal. They also took the opportunity to thank pupils and families for their generosity.
The academy also welcomed representatives from Society Without Abuse, formerly known as Swindon Women’s Aid, who spoke to students about their vital work supporting and educating communities to help create a world without fear.
In total, more than 90 boxes and bags of gifts were donated, providing a welcome boost to those who need it most during the festive season.
Kingsbury Green Academy thanked everyone involved, including students, families and staff, for the care and effort put into choosing, packing and wrapping the gifts.
The school added that it was proud of its community spirit and wished its school family and the wider Calne community a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
