The day begins in the morning for members and their families, before opening to the wider community from midday. Visitors will be able to explore the club, meet members and coaches, and take part in a range of fun tennis activities designed for all ages and abilities.

The free event, subject to sign-up and availability, will include cardio sessions, junior and family zones, and a fun mixed doubles tournament. Whether you are a complete beginner, a returning player or a seasoned competitor, everyone is welcome on court.

A rolling BBQ will be served from 2pm at £7 per person, with freshly made Pimm’s, homemade cakes and healthy fruit bowls available throughout the afternoon. The bar will remain open all day, making it as much a social occasion as a sporting one.

Founded in 1880, Bath Tennis Club is a not-for-profit community amateur sports club that has been part of the city’s sporting life for more than 140 years. The club recently invested £120,000 in major facility upgrades, including four new hard courts, two Astro courts and improved LED lighting.

Club Manager Andrew Kettle said, “It’s spring! And at this time of year the excitement is palpable. With renewed energy and sunnier weather, the buzz amongst the members, visitors and tennis returners is always felt amongst the community at Bath Tennis Club. So we are pleased to offer a vibrant, inclusive space where people can come together through tennis and social events, something we pride ourselves on.”

He added, “This open-to-all day is another fantastic way to showcase the club’s welcoming atmosphere, encourage new members, and take part in a series of tennis activities, cardio sessions, junior and family zones and a fun, mixed doubles tournament.”

The open day offers local families a chance to discover why the club is more than just a place to play tennis. With improved facilities and a strong focus on inclusivity, the event is designed to help people feel confident stepping onto court for the first time.
