Young people in Chippenham can look forward to an unforgettable half term of rhythm, creativity and performance thanks to two free workshops inspired by STOMP and Hamilton.
The sessions, organised by Rag and Bone Arts CIC and Tell Your Story, will take place at the Neeld Community and Arts Centre and are designed to give 11–18-year-olds a taste of West End–style theatre without leaving Wiltshire.

Funded by the National Lottery and UK Government through the Million Hours programme, both workshops are led by professional performers and are completely free to attend – but booking is essential.
On Monday 27 October, STOMP co-creator Carl Smith will lead an energetic percussive performance workshop using everyday objects to create rhythm and music.
“Using one’s body and random household items or ‘rubbish’ to create unique sounds, textures and music – particularly at a time of crisis on this planet with the ever-growing importance of recycling – is so invigorating and uplifting,” said Carl.
“I have seen first-hand what a workshop like this can do for self-esteem, confidence, team building and, of course, musical sensibility.”
Sessions run from 11am–1pm for ages 11–14 and 2pm–4pm for ages 14–18.
Then, on Wednesday 29 October, local actor and drama coach Lisa Southam will channel the revolutionary spirit of Hamilton with a theatre workshop packed with rhythm, rap, and storytelling.
Participants will explore scenes and songs from the hit musical, take part in creative devising sessions and even stage their own mini rap battle.
“I’m really excited to deliver the Hamilton-inspired workshop,” said Lisa. “Through character, rhythm, movement and storytelling, we explore what makes Hamilton so extraordinary and use that energy to help every participant discover the power of their own voice.”
Lisa’s sessions run from 11am–1pm for ages 14–18 and 2pm–4pm for ages 11–14.
Laura Graham-May from Rag and Bone Arts CIC, said, “We’re thrilled to bring two fantastic opportunities to young people in Chippenham this half term. Thanks to National Lottery and DCMS funding, we can offer inspiring workshops led by top industry professionals who know how to engage and empower young people. We hope everyone who takes part will come away with new skills, confidence and a big dose of creative energy.”
Both sessions are free but places are limited, so booking is essential via ticketsource.co.uk/rag-and-bone-arts-cic.
