Pupils at Leigh on Mendip School in Radstock are enjoying a brand-new outdoor play area after its official opening in the spring sunshine.
The new equipment was unveiled during a special ceremony attended by Kerrie Courtier, Director of Primary Education for the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, who cut the ribbon in front of excited children and staff.
As soon as the ribbon fell, pupils rushed to explore the new structures, with cheers echoing across the playground as they tried out the equipment for the first time.
Designed to encourage active play and build confidence, the new installation represents a significant investment in pupils’ wellbeing and outdoor learning.
Kerrie Courtier said, “This is an amazing improvement to the school grounds. It will have a huge impact on the children’s year-round outdoor play.”
The project was made possible through support from the Midsomer Norton Schools Partnership, helping to ensure the school environment continues to support children both inside and outside the classroom.
Executive Head Dan Turull said, “Our pupils are all very excited about this fantastic addition to our school grounds. We would like to thank our multi-academy trust for funding this wonderful project and Phoenix Play for bringing our vision to life.”
With the summer term approaching, the new play area is set to become a much-loved space for fun, friendship and fresh air for years to come.
