Kingsbury Green Academy (KGA) is proud to announce a landmark achievement in its academic history: the highest GCSE progress scores ever recorded at the school. These results reflect a great year for the academy, showing the unwavering commitment, resilience, and ambition of its students and staff.
This year’s success is especially poignant for the current Year 11 cohort, whose educational journey has been anything but ordinary. As Year 6 pupils in 2020, they faced the full force of the COVID-19 pandemic—missing out on SATs, leavers’ celebrations, and the traditional transition into secondary school.

With national lockdowns and remote learning defining their early secondary experience, this group began Year 7 without the usual academic benchmarks that enable what has previously been known as a Progress 8 score. Instead, their progress was measured using Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs), providing a vital baseline from which their remarkable growth has now been charted.
In a year where national GCSE standards have returned to pre-pandemic levels, KGA students have not only met the challenge—they have exceeded all expectations. The school’s record-breaking progress scores reflect outstanding academic development across all abilities, setting a new benchmark for excellence.
Standout achievements include:
- Jonathan E. achieved five grade 9s, a Distinction Star, and a suite of other top grades.
- Charlotte M. earned two grade 9s, four grade 8s, and four grade 7s.
- Arthur S. secured two grade 9s, two grade 8s, and four grade 7s.
Nicola Bull, Headteacher at Kingsbury Green Academy, expressed her pride, saying, “This year’s GCSE and vocational results are to be celebrated. To achieve these scores KGA has ever seen is a testament to the resilience, ambition, and hard work of our students.
“These results reflect not only their academic excellence but also the strength of our school community—from the unwavering support of families to the tireless dedication of our staff. We are thrilled that so many students are choosing to continue their journey with us at KGA Sixth Form, where they will continue to thrive and ‘Achieve Excellence Together’.”
Many students will now continue their studies at KGA Sixth Form, pursuing A-Level and vocational pathways. Last week, the academy also reported strong outcomes in Post-16 qualifications, with students excelling across both academic and technical routes.
Kingsbury Green Academy’s record-breaking year stands as a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when a school community comes together with purpose, passion, and belief in its young people. This cohort’s journey—from disrupted beginnings to historic success—is a story of resilience, growth, and excellence.
